In generale, se si pensa al sostantivo in modo impersonale, si sceglie il singolare: The management takes no responsibility for items left unattended, la direzione declina ogni responsabilità per gli oggetti lasciati incustoditi. Se invece si pensa alle singole persone che fanno cose diverse all'interno del gruppo, si sceglie il plurale: Management are looking for new ways to cut costs, la dirigenza sta cercando nuovi modi di tagliare le spese.
